Balma is an independent Italian gallery based in Tuscany that specializes in antiques, 20th century design, and unconventional furnishings.
Founded in 2014, Balma has grown into an independent gallery driven by a passion for art, architecture, and interiors. It is the natural evolution of an eye trained in the appreciation of antiques, one that recognizes the same qualities in an 18th-century table as in a chair from the 1950s.
We don’t collect eras. We collect forms.
Our goal is to create a dialogue between the present and the past through forms, with an approach in which forms take precedence over typology, era, and collection: proportion, composition, volume, weight, and presence are fundamental aspects of our research and selection process.
There are no rigid temporal boundaries, but rather clear focal points. We select forms and objects of character that share the same structural integrity.
Our project brings together 20th-century design, primitive furniture, European vernacular pieces, and classical antiquities in which construction and the marks of time define the object
We love to seek out essential lines in antique objects that fit perfectly into contemporary spaces.
We are not interested in eras. We are interested in proportions. Materials. Silence. Genuine craftsmanship. Whether an object was made in 1750 or 1958 is secondary. We collect timeless forms.
Balma operates internationally with architecture and design firms, dealers, and private clients, taking a direct, hands-on approach to selection, restoration, sales, and shipping.
