Folk art tripod chair

Primitive three-legged chair of extraordinary expressive power, crafted entirely by hand from solid wood in the tradition of European Alpine folk art. The legs, carved from natural, minimally processed branches, retain the organic curvature of living wood, lending the piece a sculptural energy. The seat, carved from a single solid block and shaped by hand, bears the marks of use. The backrest, carved from a single plank with an opening at the top, completes the piece’s minimalist form. The dark, uniform patina, acquired through daily use, transforms this utilitarian object into a piece of rare contemporary beauty—closely aligned with the wabi-sabi aesthetic in its celebration of imperfection and the passage of time. France, 19th century.
