Charming French ‘table de ferme’ in solid oak with a patina of age. Harmonious and beautifully proportioned, it dates from the 19th century
This charming ‘table de ferme’ in solid oak, from France, reflects the authentic craftsmanship and practical character typical of rural furniture. The top features a deep, warm patina, developed over decades of use, with visible knots, subtle irregularities and traces of hand-finishing that reveal the wood’s natural qualities. The top is approximately 4 cm thick. The base has simple lines, with angled legs and a central crossbar, which ensures stability. The subtle shading of the beautiful patina lends the table a harmonious appearance.
Tables of this type were crafted by local artisans for everyday use on farms and in rural homes, where durability and practicality were essential. The understated construction allows the material itself – oak – to take centre stage. With its generous proportions, the table can comfortably seat between 6 and 8 people.
